Job Title: Benefits/Human Resources Coordinator

Description: You'll be responsible for day-to-day administration of all benefit, wellness and leave management programs/systems. This includes all program management, to include eligibility determination based on company policies and in full compliance with state and federal regulations. Position will perform time and attendance activities for all hourly plant payroll at our Oostburg location as well as other human resources-related functions.

  • Maintain and track all time and attendance for Oostburg plant associates.
  • Assist the Compensation/Benefits Manager with benefit program administration to include but not limited to planning, marketing and managing all existing benefit programs.
  • Coordinate and administer wellness and leave programs.
  • Research additional benefit programs designed to maintain market competitiveness and increase employee retention.
  • Coordinate and maintain benefit enrollments utilizing online enrollment system.
  • Evaluate claims to determine eligibility following all legal, plan and company policies.
  • Administer new employee benefit orientations.
  • Assist with company wellness program including budgeting, planning, and organizing program efforts.
  • Coordinate and maintain Family Medical Leave (FML) requests for all employees utilizing UKG Ready.
  • Communicate notice of employee rights, notice of deadlines and company leave policy guidelines to employees requesting leave.
  • Assist employee through the FML and disability claim filing process.
  • Maintain the request and receipt of all medical certifications and return to work documentation required during the leave of absence process.
  • Provide ongoing case management for all leaves of absence, including keeping Safety Management abreast of any worker compensation/FML implications.
  • Provide ongoing communication and confidential reports to HR management and supervisory management regarding return to work statuses.
  • Coordinate Reasonable Accommodation Program including assisting employees through request process.
  • Coordinate and maintain the employee evaluation system for all production employees.
  • Back-up functions related to Payroll Coordinator responsibilities including full hourly plant payroll processing.
  • Responsible for payroll / human resources related filing.
  • Perform other duties and projects as requested by the Compensation/Benefits Manager, Human
  • Resources Manager-Oostburg, Director of Human Resources-Operations, and Sr. Vice President of
  • Human Resources & Corporate Communications.

Experience, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • Associate Degree in Human Resources, Wellness or equivalent experience.
  • Two to three years of comparable leave administration, payroll processing and benefit administration experience in a Human Resources office.
  • Requires a high level of confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of federal and state regulations including FMLA and HIPAA.
  • Requires excellent interpersonal skills to frequently deal with employees, management and the general public.
  • Must have good mathematical and analytical skills, problem solving ability, and accuracy.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate policies, procedures and sensitive information.
  • Knowledge of the ERP system, UKG Pro, UKG Ready, personal computer, Microsoft Outlook & Office products.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently and efficiently to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to travel to alternate work sites as needed.
  • Consistent and reliable attendance to maintain adequate staffing levels and meet customer commitments is required.
