Description: Provide leadership to all maintenance employees of the plant. Create an environment of respect and responsibility through professional communication, accountability, budget consciousness, teamwork, quality, safety and security. The maintenance manager position is responsible for overseeing installation, repairs and upkeep of the company's property including mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing systems, structures, buildings and production machinery and maintenance administration/budgeting, ensuring optimal proactive maintenance support and processes for the entire plant production while working to improve plant efficiency, in accordance with company policies and procedures.
This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time:
1. All AMPI employees have an obligation to report employee safety, food safety and food quality issues to personnel of authority.
2. This position has a heightened food safety and food quality responsibilities.
3. Manages direct reports who supervise employees in maintenance while responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the reports. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
4. Ensures safe operations through adherence to Environmental, Health, and Safety programs and procedures.
5. Responsible for the safe maintenance, repair or replacement of plant equipment and systems, to ensure maximum production quantity and quality, while supporting the policies, goals and objectives of the company.
6. Initiates, implements, and manages the plant maintenance program based on best practices in the dairy industry, with an emphasis on planning/scheduling and preventive/predictive maintenance.
7. Monitors the use and inventories of spare parts, maintenance supplies, and equipment and initiates reordering when necessary.
8. Maintains and repairs maintenance shop equipment.
9. Maintains computerized maintenance management system when available for tracking work orders, spare parts, and maintenance history of plant equipment.
10. Prepares reports, analyzes data, and makes recommendations for improving plant operations and solving maintenance-related problems.
11. Ensures that maintenance technicians are adequately trained, equipped, and motivated so that the maintenance program can be accomplished in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner.
12. Conducts employee performance reviews based on job descriptions to determine competency, knowledge, and contribution of the maintenance supervisors and technicians.
13. Maintains and updates operating and training manuals for the maintenance department.
14. Reviews the operation of plant equipment and systems constantly, to minimize unplanned downtime, anticipate solve problems in a timely manner, and to identify opportunities for improvement.
15. Initiates and carries out projects that improve efficiency and/or reduce operating costs.
16. Drive training and coaching to ensure compliance with Safety standards and incident prevention.
17. Coordinates activities with Plant Operations Departments.
18. Prioritizes, schedules repairs and installations to equipment and facilities, minimizing interference with production.
19. Coordinates installation of new equipment and the completion of building projects.
20. Maintaining machine operating standards, including the review and documentation of downtime trends against standard.
21. Administers the maintenance work order system, including prioritizing and assigning work orders, and monitoring their timely completion.
22. Managing the plant preventive maintenance plan, ensuring the least interference with production operations, and ensuring the completion and maintenance of all records regarding P.M. and work orders completed.
23. Ensure compliance with OSHA requirements, with an emphasis on arc flash, Aerial Lift, Confined Space, First Aid/CPR, Fall Protection, Forklift, Hazardous Communication-Right to Know, Hearing Conservation, Hot Work, Lockout/Tag out and Electrical safety.
24. Ensuring compliance with all local, state and federal regulatory environmental programs for testing and disposal requirements, such as waste oil disposal, PSM and RMP.
25. Development and adherence to maintenance budget.
26. Assisting in process troubleshooting as needed, including being a technical resource as needed.
27. Assisting in the development and implementation of capital projects and related budgets.
28. Proactively manages all infrastructures including developing long-term plan for maintenance and upgrades as needed.
29. Identify and present capital improvement projects to support plant infrastructure needs and improvements.
30. Adhere to all Quality and Food Safety policies and procedures, reporting any nonconformity.
31. Adhere to all Safety policies and procedures, reporting any nonconformity.
32. Install and optimize CMMS software program to increase availability of all plant equipment.
33. Other duties as assigned.

- Associates degree from two-year college in a related technical field or certificate or diploma from trade school in related field required or a combination of education and relevant work experience.
- Five or more years' experience in the maintenance, mechanical maintenance, and/or repair work and/or operation of a process manufacturing facility.
- Five or more years’ experience as a supervisor or manager, preferably in a maintenance department.
- Prior maintenance experience in the food manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Knowledge of HACCP, GMP's, OSHA and loss control programs is highly desirable.
