Job Title: Maintenance Technician

Description: The Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of all equipment, machinery, and building systems in our cheese converting plant. This role involves performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs to minimize downtime and support smooth production operations. 

•    Working knowledge of programmable controllers and frequency drives.
•    Electrical knowledge and experience with PLC Drives and using multi meters, amp meters, and voltage testing equipment.
•    Knowledge of single phase and 3 phase line wiring, AC and DC controls.
•    Mechanically inclined and can perform mechanical fixes such as gear boxes, cams and levers, V-belts, bearing replacement, rebuilding pneumatic cylinders, and a solid understanding of mechanical equipment in general.
•    Perform routine, preventative, and corrective maintenance on production machinery, packaging equipment, refrigeration systems, conveyors, and plant utilities - AC units, air compressors, vacuum pumps.
•    Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic issues to identify root causes and implement timely repairs.
•    Working knowledge of using drill press, hydraulic press, cutting tools, grinders, polishers.
•    Experience with 460V vacuum pumps and industrial air compressors is preferred.
•    Welding, brazing, common steel, stainless steel, copper sweating.
•    Assist with equipment setup, adjustments, and changeovers to support production schedules.
•    Maintain and repair building systems, including HVAC, lighting, plumbing, and general facility upkeep.
•    Knowledge of OSHA requirements.
•    Maintain forklifts, stand-up walkie/rider lifts. 
•    Follow all safety, food safety (HACCP, SQF, GMPs) and regulatory compliance standards.
•    Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, parts usage, etc.
•    Assist with installation of new machinery, upgrades, and plant projects as needed.
•    Computer and technology savvy.
•    Follow up on work performed, ensure repairs are correct.
•    Maintain proper personal hygiene.
•    Treat others with respect.

Experience, Skills, and Abilities:

•    High school diploma or equivalent; technical/trade school certification preferred.
•    2+ years electrical experience working with PLC Drives, HMI Panels, working with 3ph 440 and 220 motors and wiring.  
•    2+ years of maintenance experience in a food processing, dairy, or manufacturing environment (cheese industry experience is a plus).
•    Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic systems.
•    Forklift and or stand-up walkie/rider lift experience is a plus. 
•    Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
•    Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
•    Willingness to work flexible hours.

Physical Requirements:
•    Ability to lift 50 lbs. and perform tasks requiring standing, bending, and climbing.
•    Ability to climb ladders and work from heights. 
•    Comfortable working in refrigeration temperatures.
•    Ability to safely use tools and operate equipment.

Hours/Employment Type: 5:30AM-4:00PM (with the ability to start earlier or stay later, if needed). Working Days- Plant runs Monday through Thursday, (may need to work a Friday at times if necessary)

Wage: STARTING WAGE - $28.85HR
