Description: The Production Planner and Scheduler coordinates and expedites the flow of work and materials to ensure the plant meets scheduled production demands and required inventory levels of raw materials and supplies. This position is responsible for forecasting and scheduling products and quantities of products to be processed and packaged. The responsibilities of the Production Planner and Scheduler ensure production is efficient and completed in a designated timeframe with an emphasis on employee safety and food safety while considering production, cost, quality, and quantity expectations.
Responsibilities:
1. Accurately schedules daily and weekly production based on customer orders and forecasts and distributes schedules and work orders to departments.
2. Balances production and inventory levels with demand to support targets consistent with customer service, inventory goals and capacity utilization and staffing requirements.
3. Determines material requirements and priorities by reviewing documents such as production schedules and work orders.
4. Works closely with Plant Manager, Plant Superintendent and Procurement Specialist to schedule effectively and maintain a fill rate that exceeds customer expectations.
5. Works with Raw Dairy Operations Supervisor to ensure appropriate timing and supply of raw dairy supplies are available.
6. Works with Office Manager to determine availability and timing of milk available for purchase.
7. Collaborates with production and sales, and revises, on an as-needed basis, production schedules when required due to priority orders, labor or material shortages, backlogs, or other interruptions.
8. Requisitions and maintains inventories of materials or supplies necessary to meet production demands.
9. Coordinates schedules with maintenance to ensure alignment with work schedules and capacity constraints.
10. Trouble-shoots schedule changes, labor issues, production activities, and quality concerns with internal staff and regularly communicates information with Plant Manager, Plant Superintendent and Sales Manager.
11. Works with Plant Manager to develop, adjust and publish an obtainable scorecard for Production Planner and Scheduler position and works toward successfully achieving goals.
12. May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Experience, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
1. Associate Degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management, or a related Business Degree; 2 - 4 years of experience and/or training in plant operations, inventory, or supply chain, preferably within the food industry or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. HACCP and/or SQF certification preferred.
2. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Ability to manipulate and analyze large amounts of data is required; Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills are required. ERP experience preferred.
3. Strong logical, mechanical, strategic, technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills are required.
4. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with all levels of employees is required.
5. The ability to adapt to changing priorities, multitask, remain organized and by a detail-oriented approach are required.
6. The ability to think critically and work independently to achieve goals is required.
7. Continuous improvement mindset and passion for driving innovation and change is required.
Hours/Employment Type: Full Time
Salary/Wages: $61,000 - $80,000 annually
