Job Title: Quality Assurance Manager

Description: We are seeking a Quality Assurance Manager to lead all food safety and quality programs within our facility. This role serves as the primary authority for HACCP, SQF, and regulatory compliance, ensuring all systems are effective, up to date, and continuously improving.

• Oversee the product, quality, and food safety compliance operations of the plant facility.
• Oversee Food Safety Program and HACCP system, intervene when deviations occur, document and report findings to the Plant Manager and management team.
• Serve as SQF Practitioner and oversee SQF certification audits.
• Monitor all quality polices on a regular basis, particularly sanitation and GMP compliance with employees.
• Participate in cheese tastings, cuttings and quality reviews with the cheesemaker and management team.
• Oversee daily lab functions, schedule and supervise lab technicians.
• Conduct or delegate monthly internal audits. Confirm that corrective actions are performed when deviations occur.
• Respond to customer feedback and communicate feedback to production staff and management team.
• Oversee training as needed, including annual refresher courses for quality/food safety programs.
• Handle phone and written requests for product specifications, paperwork updates, etc.
• Oversee spec sheets and paperwork for new and existing customers.
• Conduct supplier audits as needed with key staff.
• Oversee pest management services.
• Work with management team to address customer complaints.
• Oversee cheese sample program and assist with follow-up with Sales and Marketing Manager.

Experience, Skills and Abilities:  

  • Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in managing quality control in a manufacturing setting.
  • Experience with HACCP and SQF. Attain HACCP and SQF certification and PCQI Qualification.
  • Demonstrated computer and software skills are required, proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and databases.
  • Strong communication skills include writing, speaking and the ability to adapt communication style to fit the situation and audience.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to plan and coordinate work independently balancing multiple work demands in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to learn from oral and/or written instructions.
  • Ability to exhibit integrity in work product, usage of public and private property, interactions with clients and other staff.
  • Ability to promote a safe working environment and recognize basic safety precautions.
  • Ability to operate in an open, honest, and forthright manner to build and maintain relationships with a diverse population.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to effectively work both independently and cooperatively as part of a team.
  • Ability to analyze data, draw appropriate conclusions and recommend solutions.
  • Willingness to participate in training sessions and accept supervisor suggestions.
  • Flexibility in the work environment and willingness and ability to adapt to changing organizational needs.
  • Physical Requirements: Primarily sedentary work, exerting up to 40 lbs. of force occasionally or a negligible amount frequently.
  • Physical Activity: Primary working position-sitting, with occasional standing, walking, stooping, crouching, and kneeling; frequent reaching, carrying, lifting, pushing, pulling, grasping, typing, talking - speaking clearly, hearing - conversation, and seeing - nearby.
  • Work/Environmental: Moderate noise level consistent with a manufacturing environment.
  • Personal/Physiological: Interaction with people, working around people, delegating work, and holding oneself and others accountable for meeting deadlines and finishing work, planning of activities, making judgments on a regular basis, frequent changes in duties and volume of work, intra-organizational communication.

Hours/Employment Type: Full Time 

Salary/Wages: Based on experience.
