Quality Lab Supervisor: As the Quality Lab Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing laboratory quality control, analytical testing, microbiological testing, environmental testing, and coordinating laboratory paperwork.

  • Maintain relationships with outside laboratories and review microbiological results from outside laboratories.
  • Maintain all lab employee scheduling.
  • Communicate all lab results to Quality Lab Manager, Director of Quality Systems and Vice President of
  • Food Safety & Quality Systems.
  • Manage annual water testing, air, and compressed air quality testing.
  • Manage employee uniform and shoe testing.
  • Perform or coordinate label claim verification testing.
  • Oversee analytical and microbiological testing in quality laboratory.
  • Perform or review pathogen testing on environmental, bulk, and finished production samples.
  • Manage and prioritize finished product/bulk analytical and micro testing workload for Quality Lab Technicians.
  • Set up new items in micro testing system.
  • Develop, maintain, and coordinate distribution of Certificates of Analysis to customers.
  • Investigate out of specification results.
  • Maintain and order laboratory supplies.
  • Maintain and ensure accuracy of laboratory equipment calibration.
  • Train and instruct Quality personnel on the proper use of reference materials and equipment/instruments to determine product compliance. Complete and distribute proper forms and worksheets.
  • Maintain the Masters Gallery Environmental Monitoring Program.
  • Maintain laboratory accreditations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Quality Lab Manager and Vice President of Food Safety & Quality Systems.

Experience, Skills and Abilities: 

What you can offer

  • Bachelor Degree in Food Science or Microbiology or equivalent experience.
  • Three to five years of previous experience in a food lab is desired, or with previous experience in a management role preferred.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good decision-making skills regarding quality standards.
  • Knowledge of GMP requirements.
  • Knowledge of AOAC and Standard Methods for the Examination of Dairy Products approved methods for cheese testing.
  • Knowledge of food standard methods.
  • Good organizational skills and analytical ability.
  • Ability to maintain membership with Wisconsin Laboratory Association and/or other laboratory affiliation recommended.
