Responsibilities:

  • The R&D Scientist is responsible for leading our product development, maintenance, and innovation.
  • This individual leads the teams understanding customer/consumer requirements, industry trends & practices, and product understanding - translating that knowledge into new and improved products or platforms.
  • This position is expected to lead and participate in cross-functional project teams and is the champion of product and design quality.
  • The R&D Scientist is involved in improving the quality of existing products, maintaining regulatory compliance, reducing costs, and maximizing the return to the shareholders.
  • Implementation of Innovation & Renovation strategy in the market.
  • Leverages technical experience and education, R&D and external industry insights to develop, implement, and execute creative product and packaging development activities to achieve project goals and deadlines to delight the consumer and drive customer preference.
  • Drives technical matter with raw material, co-packer, and packaging suppliers.
  • Participates in the selection of suppliers and co-packers.
  • Responsible for maintaining vendor and industry relationships of current trends and to ascertain future trends.
  • Act as expert in Dairy product and cheese making and share knowledge of the category and production trends with the cross functional team.
  • Responsible for performing qualification trials (materials and vendor selection).
  • Reviews and evaluates and documents results, facilitates decision making.
  • Works with RD &QA Manager to set quality attributes and evaluation procedures for all components, ensuring quality by design.
  • Lead execution of product development that brings product from concept to reality, including sourcing optimized inputs.
  • Develop and execute product improvements, including improvements to quality, process, efficiency, and cost.
  • Work with cross functional teams (marketing, sales, operations, quality control, packaging, regulatory, and special operating groups)
  • Draft standards and specifications on finished products and ingredients used with minimal assistance.
  • Generate food labels with all information covered.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and pursue continuous education in the food science, regulatory, and dairy fields.
  • Travel 10-20% to manufacturing sites and industry conferences.

Experience, Skills and Abilities:

  • Degree in Food/Dairy Science, or related technical field.
  • 5+ years’ experience in Food Technology.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong teamwork and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrate ability to coach others Proficient in using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Rapidly learn other pertinent software as the job requires.

Hours/Employment Type: Full-Time 

Salary/Wages: $80'sK annually
