Description: Blakesville Creamery is a farmstead creamery located in Port Washington. We make cheese from the milk of our own 1500 head herd of goats, as well as making sheep’s milk cheese from purchased milk from a single farm. Our cheeses are artisan and we deeply value hand-crafted products made by real people. We have been in business for only 5 years but have already garnered 25 awards.

We are seeking someone who cares about quality to join our team as a full-time Creamery Production Assistant. This is an ideal entry level position for someone looking to get into cheesemaking. The position requires a flexible schedule but is generally 40hrs per week, Sunday-Thursday. This position includes work that is repetitive in nature, requires the ability to stand for long periods of time, the ability to lift 50lbs or more, and the ability to work in both warm (75F) and cold (50-55F) environments for extended periods of time. This position also requires attention to detail, adherence to food safety and quality protocols, record-retention and note-taking, and the ability to work independently and in a group setting.

Responsibilities include:

  • Following established SOPS for cheese quality and food safety
  • Cleaning and sanitizing all cheesemaking and cheese-care equipment
  • Post-production work such as racking, salting, washing, & brushing
  • Packaging of finished products

Experience, Skills and Abilities: No experience is required but candidates with prior experience in food handling/HACCP/GMPs are preferred.

Hours/Employment Type: Full Time

Salary/Wages: $20/hr
