Job Title: Quality Control Inspector

Description:
- Material verification and testing and support material control system as required.
- Maintain welder certification log, welder continuity.
- Blast/Paint inspection
- Quality check “in-process” work (i.e.: fit-up and weld quality checks.)
- Visual inspection of joint preparation, Initial Root Pass and final welds.
- Verify welding procedure is being followed
- Verify welding personnel are qualified
- Final dimensional inspection
- Witness and perform Non-Destructive Testing
- Assemble components of the final data package as directed by the Lead Quality Control Inspector
- Maintain accurate documentation as required by the quality system (traveler, ITP, material log etc.)
- Issue NCR’s when required and propose corrective action.
- Work closely with production staff to resolve quality issues
- Qualify welding personnel to AWS/ASME code and prepare certifying documentation.
- Support and maintain a Lean work environment
- Other tasks as assigned by the Lead Quality Control Inspector
Experience, Skills and Abilities:
- Experience as a Quality Control professional in an ASME/AWS code fabrication environment
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply client and code specifications and determine fabrication requirements from the specifications
- Knowledge of weld processes and fabrication techniques used in structural and pressure component fabrication
- Ability to read and understand AWS, and ASME welding procedures and supporting procedure qualification records for the applicable fabrication
- Prior background applying non-destructive examination methods is desirable
- Technical school degree with equivalent experience in an AWS/ASME code fabrication environment preferred
- Working knowledge of calipers, tape measures etc. and the ability to make metric conversions
- Advanced Blueprint reading skills
- Skilled with computers and Microsoft applications (word, excel, etc)
- Written and verbal communication skills
- Understanding of welding and machining symbols
- CWI with AWS D1.1 certification is preferred
