Job Title: Start up Cheesemaker

Description: This is a full time position. Typical days of production are Monday through Saturday. This employee reports directly to the Operations Manager. Objectives are to ensure the plant’s daily production starts up on time and adheres to the set production schedule and cheese recipes in order to produce a quality product in a safe working environment.

Job Duties
• Ensure plant is clean upon starting up for the day – adhere to CGC forms
• Exhibit positive leadership at all times – follow Cedar Grove Cheese Code of Conduct and Code of Ethics
• Enforce CGC Food Defense Policies and procedures.
• Oversee process of cheese making from start to finish including but not limited to:
CIP silos, trucks, milk and whey lines, curd transfer lines on 22k vat, whey tank, and unseparated whey tank
• HTST / Separator operation including cream control and results
• Adhere to and enforce State cleaning and sanitizing procedures as well as Cedar Grove Cheese Company Policies
• Verify and enforce accuracy of documentation / review all documents.
• Teach, train, and coach cheesemaker assistants and makeroom empolyees all aspects of cheesemaking including SOPS, GMPs, HAACP, and OSHA regulations
• Provide positive feedback regarding process and product improvements, equipment repairs needed, and other concerns or ideas in order to maintain a safe working environment.
• Achieve and advance high standards of product quality
• Provide input on employee reviews

Experience, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Licensed WI cheesemaker with at least a year experience.
  • Posses a WI pasteurizer operator certificate.
  • Ability to troubleshoot.

Employment Type: Full Time

Wages: $24 an hour potential for more depending on experience
