Position Objective: Plant operators play a key role in the success of our company and ensure that the plant operates safely, efficiently and in compliance with all of our regulatory permits. Plant operators perform a variety of skilled operational tasks throughout the day which includes interfacing with our SCADA system, running analytical tests and performing technical maintenance work supporting the operation.
Duties and Responsibilities:
PLANT/MECHANICAL OPERATIONS:
- Creates a safe work environment
- Operates the Viresco anaerobic digestion process by monitoring equipment, gauges and charts in the digester, electrical generation, and waste treatment processes.
- Records and analyzes statistical data concerning plant operations ensuring that the plant is running as specified.
- Troubleshoots failures and malfunctions to determine the root cause and maintains, operates, repairs and replaces equipment as necessary.
- Maintains, modifies or repairs instrumentation and control equipment including recorders, flowmeter and other water quality monitoring equipment.
- Collects samples for testing and reporting and performs lab analysis for process control.
GENERAL:
- Maintains a clean and presentable plant environment that represents personal pride in your work and your company.
- Viresco runs 24 hours a day and 365 days a week. Operator shifts will change quarterly, and operators will be required to work rotating holidays
- Assures that plant operates within required standards
- Monitors performance of electrical systems, circuits, or equipment of the treatment plant
- Provides back-up to related positions
- Other duties and project work as assigned or apparent
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Communications: Must have the ability to actively listen to others for understanding of their needs and situations. Must be able to gather pertinent information and be able to communicate this information professionally and precisely throughout the company quickly and accurately.

Experience, Skills and Abilities:
- Technical Knowledge:
- The preferred candidate should have a knowledge or training in biology, environmental science, chemistry, or a closely related field. Knowledge of wastewater operations a plus.
- Should have skill in the operation of a variety of lab equipment, generators, pumps, gauges, and other common tools.
- Must have the ability to perform control calculations.
- Physical Abilities:
- Must have the ability to read and discern visual images on a variety of media.
- Must have the ability to operate computer equipment up to long periods of time.
- Must be able to use a shovel, common hand and power tools, wrenches, detection devices, mobile radio, phone, calculator and a variety of lab equipment.
- Desirable Training and Experience
- Wastewater Operator Certification
- Two years’ experience operating a wastewater plant.
Hours/Employment Type: Full Time
Salary/Wages: $60,000-$75,000 /yr
