Register Now for WCMA’s Supervisor and Manager Training Programs

The Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association (WCMA) today opened registration for fall training programs designed to retain and develop the skills of valued employees.  You can reserve space now in the popular Front-Line Supervisor Training program and the new Learning to Lead management training series on WisCheeseMakers.org.

“The nationwide labor shortage makes it critically important for businesses to maximize the potential of their existing workforce,” said John Umhoefer, WCMA Executive Director.  “Enrolling managers and supervisors in industry-specific, engaging leadership training not only demonstrates a direct investment in them, but empowers those staff members to create positive, productive work environments for their entire team.”

Highly recommended by past participants, WCMA’s Front-Line Supervisor Training program will be offered in three parts this fall.  The core class, Part A, is focused on leadership essentials, including decision making and problem solving, and will be offered on September 11.  Front-Line Supervisor Training Part B, focused on emotional intelligence, critical thinking, coaching, and performance feedback will be offered on October 9.  Front-Line Supervisor Training Part C, focused on personal productivity and managing workplace stress, will be offered on November 6.  All courses will be offered at Madison College, and are limited to 22 participants per session.

All Front-Line Supervisor Training courses are offered for members at a rate of $119 per participant.  Materials, instruction, and meals are included.  Classes can be taken separately, if desired, but those participants completing all three sessions – and their employers – will be recognized with a certificate from Madison College at the Wisconsin Cheese Industry Conference.

WCMA is also launching a new program this fall specifically designed for mid-level managers, or employees who are transitioning to such positions.  The Learning to Lead management training series will be offered in partnership with Madison College, via three workshops.  The “Critical Thinking and Decision Making” session is set for September 18.  “Effective Communications and the Building and Leading of Teams” will be held November 13, and a session entitled “Effective Delegation, Talent Development, and Situational Leadership” is set for January 9, 2019.

Those individuals enrolling in Learning to Lead would participate in all three sessions as a cohort.  The cost for the entire series, including materials, instruction, and meals, is $475 per participant, and enrollment is limited to 20 individuals.  Successful participants and their employers will be recognized with a certificate from Madison College at the Wisconsin Cheese Industry Conference.
